Mobile Home Heating & Cooling Built for Southern California Heat

When a system cannot hold a temperature through an inland summer, the equipment is not always the reason. Cal Star repairs and replaces mobile home HVAC and looks at the whole home to find out why.

Warning Signs

Signs Your HVAC System Needs Help

Most homeowners call us in the middle of a heat wave. These are the signs worth acting on before that happens.

  • The system runs constantly and never reaches the thermostat setting
  • Some rooms are far hotter or colder than others
  • Energy bills climbing with no change in how you use the system
  • Weak airflow at the vents
  • New noises, smells, or repeated breaker trips
  • Equipment well past a decade of service

The Fix

What Cal Star Handles

Mobile home HVAC has its own equipment, duct layout, and clearance requirements. All of it is what we work on.

  • AC Repair

Diagnosis and repair of cooling systems, from capacitors and blowers to refrigerant and condensate problems.

  • System Replacement

Replacement equipment sized to the actual home. An oversized system short-cycles and cools unevenly, which homeowners often mistake for a bad install.

  • Furnace & Heating Repair

Heating repairs and replacements for the compact furnace configurations used in manufactured homes.

  • Duct Repair & Sealing

Mobile home ducts run under the floor. Crushed, disconnected, or leaking ducts waste a large share of the air you are paying to cool.

  • Thermostat & Controls

Replacing failed or inaccurate thermostats so the system responds to the real temperature in the home.

  • Comfort Assessment

Roof, insulation, and airflow looked at together, because the equipment is often not the reason a home stays hot.

Why It Matters

Why Cooling a Mobile Home Is Different

A mobile home has less insulation, a lighter roof assembly, and ductwork that usually runs in the crawl space under the floor. In Inland Empire and desert heat, that combination means an undersized system or a leaking duct run will never catch up, no matter how long it runs.

It also means equipment is only part of the answer. We have solved plenty of “the AC is broken” calls with duct repair, an insulated metal roof, or sealing up the space under the home. Cal Star handles all of that work, so the recommendation is based on what your home needs rather than on what we happen to sell.

FAQ

HVAC Services Questions, Answered

My AC runs all day and the house is still hot. Does it need replacing?

Not always. Leaking or disconnected under-floor ducts, an aging roof, and thin insulation all produce that same symptom. We check those before recommending equipment.

Can I use a standard residential AC unit in a mobile home?

Usually not. Manufactured homes need equipment approved for that use, with the correct duct connection and clearances. The wrong unit creates airflow and safety problems even when it appears to run fine.

How long should a mobile home HVAC system last?

With regular maintenance many systems run well past a decade, though desert heat is hard on equipment. We will give you an honest read on remaining life instead of pushing a replacement.

Do you repair heating as well as cooling?

Yes, both. That includes the compact furnace setups common in mobile homes, where clearances and venting matter as much as the unit itself.
